Children

There are lots of things for children to do.  Below is information on just some of the opportunities for children including:

  • Crèche & MiniClub
  • Sunday Club
  • Sunflowers
  • Rainbows & Brownies
  • Holy Apostles school

If you want to see our policy on working with children and young people, please click  here

Crèche & MiniClub

Your babies, toddlers and pre-school children are very welcome to stay in church with you every week at the10am service. However, if they are unsettled or if it is easier for you, there  is a crèche for your babies and toddlers with toys and activities available in the lower room at the back of church.   MiniClub also takes place here for pre-school children with stories, structured activities, games and toys.

Sunday Club

Once your child starts school, they can join Sunday Club which meets in the church hall.  Children stay in church for the beginning of the 10am service and are then taken by their leaders over to the hall for their own activities.  Parents are asked to stay in church please.  After an initial group activity the children are split into two groups (infant and junior) for stories, games, activities , prayers and fun.

All sessions are lead by enthusiastic church volunteers all of which have been CRB checked.·
We aim to have at least three adults present for each session. The Infants follow the Scripture Union Light Material and the Juniors use the Energise material produced by Urban Saints. All sessions aim to incorporate a bible study session supported by other activities including craft, drama, prayer and games.

We want children at Holy Apostles Sunday Club to develop a relationship with God through Jesus, to understand the Bible and the Christian Faith. We want their journey to be encouraging, stimulating, reflective and fun.

Making kites for Pentecost
Each year to celebrate Pentecost we have great fun making our kites. Last year the weather even allowed us to go outside and give them a test drive!

Light Party
We hold our annual Light Party on October 31st, a great opportunity to celebrate the light of Christ. We have up to 70 children come along to the church and join in the fun of the celebration with singing, craft, dancing, circus skills, bouncy castle, face painting and food.

Children’s Ministry is important
It promotes their eternal happiness
It helps them make sense out of life
It’s their best chance to accept Christ
It can help them learn to love others
It is something fun to do.
It helps children want to come to church
It helps them make new friends
It gives children special memories ·

Sunflowers

Sunflowers is run by Christian Mums, who are members of Holy Apostles Church. The group is for parents and carers with children aged from birth to 4 years.

We offer an opportunity to meet together informally, to relax and chat with old and new friends and provide a variety of fun toys and activities, enabling your child to learn and develop socially.

Holy Apostles school

There is a local primary school connected with the church and there are strong links between the school & church. Rod & Rachel visit the school regularly and take assemblies.  The children visit the church for services. Some members of the church are foundation governors.  For more information please contact the Headteacher Gareth Davies on 01242 526858 or use the link to access their website www.holyapostles.gloucs.sch.uk
